Jake Howard and I have known each other since birth.  His mother was expecting Jake at the time of my mom and dad's wedding, June7, 1946.  That very reason kept his mom from being a bridesmaids in the wedding.  Because our families were so close his parents were like my second set of parents!  There were many sleep overs at Jake's home through the years and family gatherings were almost weekly!  Jake was a very talented guitarist and could play most anything. He had his own band when we were at Southwest and played at many dance nights in the old gym.  Later when he returned from Nam, he joined me at the Church where I was Music Minister and accompanied me on his guitar many times for services. We also provided the music entertainment for the Georgia Educators Conventions on several occasions. When I left the Ministery, Jake and I shared an apartment as roommates. Everybody knew that Jake was also very talented when it came to sports. We played on the Church's Softball Team for several years.  Jake played baseball in Little League and BabeRuth League. While roommates we played a lot of tennis at my mom and dad's apartment's courts and some evenings lasted til the wee hours of the next day. Jake did me the honor of being a Groomsman at my wedding and we stayed in touch with each other until he moved to Jacksonville, Fl. On his return to Georgia we met for lunch or dinner many times. I can only say I miss him and will always be Greatful for the many years we had as Friends! (Brothers) RIP Old Friend!
