Shirley Laurane Rogers Rawlins

I married my childhood sweetheart (Buddy) in 1972. He is a graduate of our rival Brown High School. Graduated from the GA. Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1969 and became a Registered Nurse. Pursued graduate degrees in nursing and earned a PhD in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1989. I've served as a faculty member and associate dean of the GA. Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University since 1970. I retired from full time teaching in 2004, but am now back teaching nursing students part time in the learning lab and at the Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center. I also serve as a Red Cross volunteer in the capacity of a Disaster Health Services manager and a leader of the Disaster Action Team in metro Atlanta. I'm an active member of the Mount Paran Church if God in Atlanta where Buddy and I serve as worship leaders in the adult choir and Handbell ministries.

I have so many fond memories of my years at Southwest HS. I especially remember the pep rallies and our championship football teams. I was in the advanced chorus and went to the Allstate Choral workshops and concerts for several years. I'm sure many of you, my classmates, don't remember who I am because I was such a quiet person in school. I have to admit that I've changed a lot through the years! God's been good to me and I've had a wonderful, fulfilling life. I wish for each of you the same!
