Albert Douglas Saylors

Doug and I started at Southwest at about the same time, halfway through the tenth grade. He came from Indiana and I came from Germany. We quickly became friends and discovered that we were both avid bowlers. We introduced our parents to each other and they also became great friends. They formed a team that bowled in leagues together for several years (until my dad got transferred to Virginia). One night Doug and I rode with our parents to the bowling alley and were just wandering around outside while they were bowling. We got the idea that if we moved their car, maybe they would be surprised. Well, we were right! They walked out after bowling and couldn't find the car. Their immediate reaction was that it had been stolen and they were about to call the police. When we confessed that we had rolled it to the end of the parking lot where it couldn't be seen, they almost made us walk home. Doug was a great guy, we did many things together that I'll always remember. I still miss him.
